VanitaCart
A full-stack shopping experience with a React storefront, Django REST API, stock-aware cart and integrated checkout journeys.

VanitaCart — website and application design.
The requirement
Bring product discovery, customer accounts and checkout into a connected e-commerce experience, with a responsive storefront and a backend responsible for stock and order validation.
The approach
The application separates a responsive React storefront from a Django REST Framework API. Search, filters and product galleries support discovery, while guest and account-based journeys connect the cart to checkout, order history and saved products.
What was implemented
- A responsive product catalogue with search, category and stock filters, and sorting
- Product details, image galleries and stock-aware cart interactions
- Guest cart and checkout flows alongside customer sign-up and account features
- Order history, customer profiles and wishlists
- Stripe-hosted checkout integration restricted to test mode
The challenge
The engineering challenge was keeping cart quantities, stock availability and guest or signed-in state consistent throughout the shopping journey. Stock validation and explicit action errors make failures visible rather than treating a button click as a completed transaction.
What was delivered
A connected e-commerce application covering catalogue browsing, cart management, customer accounts and order workflows. Explore the public demo and source code; Stripe checkout is configured for test-mode payments.
A useful takeaway
E-commerce quality depends on the connections between screens, not just the screens themselves. Product discovery, inventory rules and clear checkout feedback need to work as one coherent experience.
